Founded in 2019, ENCODE Health was born from the first-hand experiences of Dr. Costas Fantis, a medical professional with an extensive background in clinical supply chains and an in-depth understanding of patient care needs.

With a career spanning medical technology, international medicine, neurosurgery and working on the front lines in emergency crisis zones, Dr. Fantis saw firsthand the inefficiencies within healthcare systems—particularly in how medical records, supplies, and patient outcomes were managed.

With Chief Technical Officer Marwan Kathayer, an expert in AI technologies, and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Carlon Fitzpatrick, ENCODE Health was formally established to revolutionise healthcare through its unique technology.

Where it all began…

One particularly pivotal moment came when Dr. Fantis learned of a young girl in Haiti who required the emergency amputation of both legs following an injury.

After her surgery, the girl was transferred to a local hospital without comprehensive medical records or follow-up plans.

In the chaos of emergency medicine, it became clear to Dr. Fantis that the lack of record-keeping, supply chain visibility, and future care planning was a pervasive issue.

This sparked his vision for ENCODE: a streamlined, intelligent system that would create and track electronic health records while managing medical inventory in real time.

Ultimately automating the procurement of necessary supplies based on actual clinical demand.

The ENCODE platform envisions not just meeting the immediate medical needs of patients but also forecasting future care requirements.

In the case of the young girl, ENCODE would not only track the medical devices and supplies used but also forecast her future needs.

For example, like prosthetics, physical therapy, and adaptive equipment as she grows, ensuring a seamless continuum of personalised care.

To bring this idea to life, Dr. Fantis collaborated with leading surgeons worldwide to map out surgical procedures, understand the intricacies of device usage, and identify gaps in the medical supply chain.

Working closely with manufacturers of medical devices, he sought to create a solution that optimises device usage for surgical teams while maintaining transparency across the entire supply chain.
